I'm building a cockpit and the MIP will have 9 instruments displayed on a monitor. I'm also building a GNS 530. I'm looking at different instrument software and it looks like there is a lot of possibilities. As I've looked into some of these, there seems to be pros and cons, and most review people only try 1 or 2 of them. Some of these are expensive, some free, some locked to a single pc, others that can be installed on different machines without getting a new key, etc. What are people recommendations, experiences, etc.

I don't remember how they'd connect to X-Plane but it might be an easier way to get, for example, nice lighting on the instruments at different times of flight.
